The natural Lake in Ghana (Lake Bosomtwe)
Hello world!, This is my first blog on tourism. Thank for taking your time to read, I really appreciate.
Lake Bosomtwe is Ghana’s one and only natural lake and people used to call it ‘Kumasi’s Beach’. This is because the lake can be found in Ashanti Regional capital of Ghana, which is Kumasi and not close to the sea at any of its points.
Lake Bosomtwe literally means "Antelope God". This is simply because it has a historical background which was said to be discovered by a hunter chasing an antelope that disappeared into the lake . The lake is considered a very sacred place to the Ashanti people who live within that area. As a result some things are considered as taboo, therefore are not been done to the lake, like (to use a regular dugout canoe or for metal or iron to touch the lake surface). Lake Bosomtwe is approximately a half an hour drive to the lake away from the direction of Kumasi, the regional capital. The shore is spotted with villages and it is believed the population in the area is estimated to be about 70,000 people. The lake rising level fluctuate conforming to the weather season, and due to this, the people of the villages have to keep migrating up to the hillside. You will see the stem of a tree covered with bark coming out of the water because of this and will also notice there are many versions of villages that have existed there before.
On occasions ,such as holidays, May Day which marks workers day and a holiday for workers in Ghana, people and groups of workers from various institutions, from different vantage points in Ghana, travel to this recreational place to have fun and to release stress after those tideous days and times at work.In other to maintain sanitation and to support the communities around the lake,It has necessitated a small charged fee to be paid by the visitors who patronage the lake for fun, hiking and to enjoy the views and recreation serene. It is possible to take boat rides on the lake, swim, and hike around. The interesting aspect is that the various communities around the lake are very welcoming and hospitality haven and this makes it interesting hiking around the lake shore. There are also some great hikes up into the hills, and to the sacred areas around the villages.

The real attraction of this lake is that, you can swim in it without any state of difficulties, unlike Lakes with purported parasites which makes swimming not recommended. The water is as still as it can be and its is actually hot during hot and sunny the days, The whole lake is surrounded by an immense wide scope of greenery and it is a really nice place to relax for the weekends. It is certainly the nicest place people who have swam testified.
There are neat, great and nice guesthouses by the lake which you can lodge in for relaxation as people who have stayed at the lake over night, stating" it's a very nice place to be".
